Appearance:  I swear she's not J plus all you need to know about her

Personality:
Now describing Elsa’s complex character is difficult to do but let’s give it a try!

Most of all Elsa likes to paint herself as nothing but a humble savior. The fairy godmother of all deformed, unloved and wretched. She pulls them out of the gutter and bottom, offers them a home in her cabinet of curiosities, puts them on a stage and makes them part of her family of freaks. It’s not much but it’s still something. So come all, let the humble miss Elsa save you and embrace you against her warm bosom as she protects you from the evil of the world.

Despite of her rather old age Elsa does portray and own rather young and girlish traits. She's very charming and flirty, knowing which strings to pull to make men around her speechless. She collects movie reviews inside of a diary and follows keenly the news of Hollywood. Her adoration for motion pictures and movie stars also shows in the way she dresses as she surrounds herself with colors and glamour, carrying herself with a grace as she walks.

But unfortunately, that’s only the pretty cover of the book.

Inside Elsa’s cabinet of curiosities there is only one rule: the bigger star you are the bigger and more luxurious tent you will have. And no one is bigger or more dazzling than Miss Elsa herself. No matter how talented or amazing someone is, they are never allowed to be more than a warm up for Elsa. And if they are? Well, they might find themselves not to be part of the troupe or family for long.

It’s not really a secret that Elsa has rather big narcissistic and selfish side to her. She’s good talker and knows human nature, both the good and bad, which makes her very talented manipulator. She deliberately takes advantage of people who have faced nothing but hate and discrimination in their lives thanks to their abnormal appearances -- exploiting them and using them to make herself shine. When feeling threatened Elsa can also be downright ruthless and cold, willing to do whatever it takes to protect herself and her spotlight. In canon she even goes as far and sells of cojoined identical twins because they were getting all the love and cheers from the audience while she was only met with boos and flying garbage. She’s confident in herself and firmly believes that she deserves nothing but to be a star and loved by all.

Of course, just like with everyone, there’s a reason for Elsa’s darker and opportunistic side. After all, she has witnessed and experienced the worst of human nature in her youth when she was tricked and mutilated. The yearning and wished for being a movie star comes from somewhere much deeper, the hurt and untouched part of her. She briefly mentions of growing up with a parents who never learned to love her after death of an older sister that she never ever got to meet and in the episode ‘Bullseye’ her secret birthday wish as blowing the candles she thinks “I just want to be loved.” And that’s the most sincere moment we ever get to see her. The scars from her past are still fresh and sore as the memory of the deep humiliation and pain keeps scratching them open every day. All of it making Elsa truly to love herself.

Elsa’s described by two-faced man, Edward Mordrake, as nothing but a “benevolent zookeeper who in reality is pernicious animal herself.” She hides the truth behind her legs from everyone around her, guarding her secret with her life as she doesn’t want to be seen as one of the freaks. But at the same time her secret strengthens her bond with the people around her. She can truly see the beauty and talent in people who everyone else has abandoned and deemed hopeless. There is nothing ugly or too disgusting to make her flinch or strike fear in her. Because silently, deep inside, she can relate to those people.

But it should never be said that Elsa is downright cold and unable to feel love an empathy. Despite the exploitative nature of the Freakshow, the unfair and mean way she treats her employees she still does love all of them. In the last episode she does show sadness and grief when she hears about death of people in her troupe and even when Stanley (a con-artist who poses as Hollywood talent scout) suggests that he could kill off the twins who are causing her trouble Elsa refuses, claiming that she couldn't possibly kill them after promising to keep them safe. And when Elsa dies she ends up in afterlife where she's welcomed by every member of her troupe that has died her first question is "Do I not need pay for my sins?" showing, that she feels true remorse and guilt for her actions.

Background/AU details: look at this nice link wow.

Strengths & weaknesses:

+ Elsa is very good at reading people. She can smell their insecurities and knows exactly where to strike to manipulate others.
+ She's fluent both at least in English and Germany.
+ She's very up-to-date! Or at least in her time. She reads papers and follows politics and fashion. This is something she uses to find new people to recruit in her show.
+ Enterprise skills. She's been running her Cabinet of Curiosities at least over 15 years, meaning she's also good at math. Later she becomes a television star.
+ Singing. While she clearly is talented Elsa's style can be quite off putting. But guess that's what you get for singing David Bowie in 50's.
+ Acting
+ Knife throwing. In her youth, she used to have an act where she'd strap someone on a wheel and throw knives at them while it was spinning. She claims never to have missed her target.

- Superstition. Elsa, like every other freak, believes in ghost of Edward Mordrake and that he'll come to take someone away with him to after life if they perform during Halloween.
- Naivety. Even though Elsa is quite rational and logical person she still posses strange kind of naivety. She can be rather easy to fool if you know how.
- Lack of education.
- Overconfidence and stubbornness.
- Her legs. While Elsa's prostheses are very authentic and will fool just about anyone they still are her biggest weakness, both mentally and physically. If they are damaged or taken away from her Elsa will be left immobile and helpless.

Depowering/humanization: n/a

Placement preference: I'm honestly fine with whatever I get!

Character goals:

I'm going to admit that I don't have any particular goals for Elsa at the moment and I'm mostly interested seeing how she'll develop along the game. However, while world around her is completely alien to her and it'll take time for her to adjust, she's more than used to the idea of war. Elsa used to live in prewar Germany but had to flee thanks to WWII. She's lived through and survived from it so I'm sure she'll fit in right in.
